Vintage Weekend... Online Antiques & Collectibles Show

Here comes something fun this weekend... The Vintage Weekend Online Antiques and Collectibles Show, from November 14-16.

It is an "indoor" antique and collectibles show, but there is no need to get in the car and drive--just shop from home (or while you are waiting for the kids to finish their activities!). The participating shops are only open one weekend a month on TicTail.com, from Friday through Sunday and then they close until the next one. So if you find a treasure that you like, better grab it right away.

Just head to this site:
to see a list of participating dealers.
Click on their links to head to their "booths."

All purchases are paid through PayPal and shipping in the U.S. is always free.

Here is my market stall:

Do stop by and visit.

Charming Bracelets

As I was re-listing some 1967 newspapers, called The Ocean Press, I decided to re-take some photos. One of them showed an article on charm bracelets, that I found so delightful to read (I love charms bracelets, and most especially charms of all sorts).

I took some close-ups of it to post here for you to enjoy.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to have a charm bracelet that lights up!

Santa Clauses Are Comin'

This delightful collection of resin Santa Clauses belongs to my mother. Two years ago she had 47 of them. I haven't counted them this year, but I'm sure there are several more. They reside in a beautiful antique corner cabinet, along with many other delightful miniature objects. She found these St. Nicks at flea markets, thrift stores and dollar stores. Said she never paid more than a dollar for any of 'em.

SOLD ! (or not)

The Vintage Village is a Ning social network I belong to. It is for antique, vintage, and collectible enthusiasts and there are many sellers of these categories on there, but also, I imagine, others who are just interested  and do not have a shop. It is a fun place with lots of information as well as items for sale.

Last week they put out a notice that they were going to do a group participation on Tophatter, a live virtual auction site and anyone who wanted to place items up for auction could do so. Well, that was hard to resist, so I eventually listed two items. I chose two that had been for sale for a while and that I could do without. There was no charge to me--don't know if there was one for the group as a whole.

I ended up in the standby category, rather than the main area. but if someone places a bid on an item in standby, then it goes into the auction when everything else in the main area has been auctioned off. You place a minimum bid on your stuff--anywhere from $1.00 on up. There is no reserve, so if you, for instance, place a dollar as the minimum, and there is only one bid, it sells for a dollar. SO, be careful about that!

Here is what sold for $4.00, my minimum. It is probably worth more, but it was free to me and I was not that attached to it.

This is what did not sell...a lovely Monet leaf brooch. So back to the shop it goes.

I did not attend the auction. It began at 8 P.M. and went for 2 1/2 hours, with many attendees. That is the other thing-you can just watch the proceedings without actually attending the auction, or you can enter and chat with all who are there. It is fast paced, especially for popular items.

Most of the stuff being auctioned, at this time, are things like jewelry, craft supplies, fashion, and handmade. Some are closed to sellers (though you can attend and bid on any of them) and others are open, meaning you can sell items appropriate to the type of auctions it is.

I haven't yet bought anything, nor have I placed any more things for sale. but it is a fun place and you can get great deals too.

Sparkle Plenty

Earrings!!
More variety than you can even imagine and so difficult to effectively photograph, especially when there have only been three days of sunshine here during the entire month of April. But I digress...

My dear friend, Kate, has consigned me to sell many wonderful things gleaned from a family-owned antique store that closed many years ago. Among the many treasures are a large group of retro earrings.
Both clip on and screwback, some signed and others not, some are in lovely condition and others not so much, but as a group, they are fascinating, at least to me. There is such a variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and styles.

In this era of pierced ears there do not seem to be a lot of women wearing these types of earrings.  In any case, if there are, they have not found my stash. But I felt that these lovely ornamental accessories deserved to be shown off.

So I picked out my favorites, spruced them up to be their glittery best, and present them to you now.

I love these silver ones, because they are so very dramatic.

The pearly ones catch the light so well. The top pair, however, are actually a mix of pearls, most likely imitation, and plastic.

Does everyone love seeing royal blue as much as I?
The middle and bottom pair are stamped "Japan" on the back.

Moss green in the middle and creamy plastic "seeds" on the bottom.

I do not profess to be an expert on jewelry, but I know what I like and this pair are my very favorite.
